About this Commercial Window Cleaning job
More information about how this Commercial Window Cleaning job was carried out
An assessment of the building was first made to assess the level of work being undertaken. We identified several issues which we would need to work around and also identified other issues such as a build-up of dust which has accumulated onto the window ledges around the inside of the building, we would need to clear this also, which would require our wet and dry vacuum.
For this clean we required an access lift, which was delivered and accessible for the 3 day duration of this clean. An appropriate IPAF license was required in order to operate the lift to gain access. Other health and safety requirements was hard hats and high visibility equipment to be worn at all times. Coning off work areas with cones and barrier tape to prevent the public from accessing areas we were working was also required.
A number of different poles were required to reach certain windows as the lift wasn’t always able to access certain areas. Dust removal was an important part of this clean, as there was a large amount of build up on the higher window sills as the cleaning staff of the building weren’t able to reach these areas without a lift. Using our wet and dry vacuum we were able to remove all of the dust from these areas after cleaning the windows, leaving the areas clean and sanitary.
Oil stains also needed to be removed with the appropriate product, this is so we could achieve what others had not. Many years of steam engines passing through the building had built up the oil stains on the doors and nearby windows. We used a paint brush and degreaser to soften the oil and then microfibre cloths to simply wipe it away afterwards.

For the outside of the building we employed similar techniques, cleaning the front of the building traditionally. This was due to the way the windows had been fitted, using reach and wash would have resulted in water marks dripping down due to the spacing in the flush fit together glass and lack of window frames.
Once complete, we showed the customer around, explained each process, showing any images we had taken of areas the customer wouldn’t be otherwise able to see.
This resulted in the customer being very happy as this was also completed within time constraints.
